Superheroes (Remote Learning)

The year 2020 was undoubtedly a very difficult year for us all. During those tragic times, we realized that superhero powers do not just exist in the forms of flying, x-ray vision or mind reading. WE are the superheroes! Students, teachers, parents, friends and family- we all have a superhero power. In this unit, students learned that in each of us is an important strength. Students then design superhero costumes that highlighted their own strengths, personality or characteristics. We looked at the artwork of Dulce Pinzon for inspirations and discuss how contemporary artists are telling the stories of “unknown superheroes.”
The principal objective of this series is to pay homage to these brave and determined men and women that somehow manage, without the help of any supernatural power, to withstand extreme conditions of labor in order to help their families and communities survive and prosper...
